Wellness Captain Carrot Cake Smoothie Recipe

For me, nothing spells ‘dessert’ like a well-baked carrot cake – especially now that the cold season finally arrived. After all, what’s better than the warm smell of a sweet cake coming straight from the oven while we’re binge-watching our favorite Christmas classics?

Since I love carrot cake so much, I kept thinking about a simple way of integrating it to my routine at least this month – you know, just to get into the Christmas spirit first thing in the morning. Although eating an actual slice of carrot cake is very tempting, I tried to figure out a healthier alternative.

And I did.

Today, I’ll introduce you to the ultimate winter smoothie recipe: the carrot cake smoothie!

If you’re ready, let’s shake it up and check out the recipe:

Carrot Cake Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup chopped carrots. An excellent source of vitamin A and antioxidants, carrots help you to keep disease at bay this season while delivering an unforgettable flavor to your beverage.
  • ½ cup sliced banana. This is my favorite natural sweetener – and for good reason. Bananas make any smoothie creamier while offering a healthy dose of nutrients; remember, the riper the banana, the sweeter your smoothie will be!
  • ½ cup Greek yogurt. Another powerful tool for the creamy texture, Greek yogurt can work wonders in regulating the digestion process. Use plain Greek yogurt to avoid artificial flavors and added sugars – and to preserve the deliciousness of this smoothie, of course!
  • ¼ cup diced pineapple. This is our secret ingredient which gives the smoothie just a pinch of exotic flavor. It also adds just enough sweetness without altering the final taste and gives you a much-needed morning boost of energy.
  • 2 tbsp toasted walnuts. Now this is when the fun part begins. If you’re thinking about skipping this ingredient, trust me: it does make a notable difference in taste. As a plus, it’s an excellent source of nutrients to turn your smoothie into a balanced breakfast alternative!
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon. What would carrot cakes be without cinnamon – even in a smoothie? Not only does this ingredient complement the carrots and bananas, but it also brings the Christmas spirit instantly.

Captain’s Tip: Got ripe banans? Put them in the freezer and save them for future smoothies. Those with black dots are in fact the best ones for this type of beverage!

Directions:

  1. Add the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy!
