4 Groups of People Who Shouldn’t Get the COVID-19 Vaccine Just Yet
Pregnant women
Pregnant women have also been excluded from the clinical trials of both Pfizer and Moderna. This group is advised to wait until after giving birth and then get the COVID-19 vaccine. In addition, women who are trying to get pregnant should wait at least two months after receiving the shot, before trying for conception, advised the CDC. Breastfeeding moms have also been recommended to postpone vaccination.
According to Dr. Peter Marks, director of the FDA’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, if pregnant women want to be vaccinated, they have every right to receive a shot “after a woman has a conversation with her healthcare provider about the potential benefits of the vaccine versus its risk and the potential risk of COVID-19 and its adverse risks on pregnancy.”
