The trials for both vaccines included individuals from vulnerable groups, such as 60+, healthcare workers, people with HIV or diabetes. However, the trial groups were not large enough to gather clear data. Therefore, health experts urged immunocompromised individuals to err on the side of caution when it comes to COVID-19 vaccination.
According to the FDA, “immunocompromised persons, including individuals receiving immunosuppressant therapy, may have a diminished immune response”.
