Your thyroid gland is responsible for regulating your metabolism. When it can’t produce enough thyroid hormones to maintain the balance in your body, your metabolism slows down and you become hypothyroid. It could be a blood vessel problem.

If your hands and feet are constantly cold, you might suffer from a blood vessel disorder such as Raynaud’s disease or arteriosclerosis. These disorders affect the blood vessels in the fingers and toes, sometimes both, reducing the blood flow in your extremities.

In the case of Raynaud’s symptoms, when exposed to cold, fingers and toes could become blue or white. In some instances, as the blood flow returns to normal, numbness or pain in these extremities.
