Not getting enough sleep

Apart from making you eat more, late-night scrolling is also keeping you from getting your recommended 7-9 hours of quality ZZZs. Not getting enough shut-eye results in low energy and poor food choices which ultimately makes you gain weight.

According to a Wake Forest study, participants who had five hours of sleep or less gained two and a half times more belly fat than those with eight hours of sleep or more. “It’s not so much that if you sleep, you will lose weight, but if you are sleep-deprived, meaning that you are not getting enough minutes of sleep or good quality sleep, your metabolism will not function properly,” says Michael Breus, PhD, author of Beauty Sleep and the clinical director of the sleep division for Arrowhead Health in Glendale, Ariz.

Sitting down

If you are like most people (I know I am for sure!), your post-dinner routine consists of making yourself comfortable on the couch or bed and watching something on TV (probably Netflix). Where’s the harm in that? Well, my friend, according to various studies, by lying down after eating you’re not allowing for the proper digestion of the meal you’ve just had. Bad digestion leads to weight gain and other health problems.

Instead of becoming a couch-potato, go for a short walk after dinner and melt those calories away before they turn into extra fat. See also 8 Best Outdoor Exercises to Make Your Routine Fresh and Fun.
