How to Make Your Own Face Mask at Home
Make Your Own Face Mask at Home
- Cut the piece of fabric into two rectangles 10 by 6 inch each.
- Stack the rectangles on top of each other and fold the top of the fabric ¼ inch. Stitch all the way across the folded part.
- Now, fold the bottom of the fabric and stitch it ¼ inch inwards about 1 inch on each side. This should create a pocket where you’ll later slip your filter in.
- Fold the left and right sides of the fabric ½ inch and stitch all the way. Don’t stitch too close to the edge!
- Slip two 6-inch pieces of elastic through the two hems created on each side of the fabric, one on each side. Tie the ends of each elastic.
- Try on the mask and make sure that it’s properly fitted. Finally, cut your coffee filter according to measurements and slip it inside the pocket on the bottom part of the mask.
While there’s still much we don’t know about the new coronavirus, we can make a difference today through social distancing and wearing a face mask in public.
