In the early days of the pandemic, skin changes, if any, were not paid enough attention to. But they were there. In time, it was confirmed that “people with less severe COVID-19, especially younger ones, might develop painful, itchy lesions on their hands and feet that resemble chilblains, an inflammatory skin condition,” according to the Mayo Clinic.
The second wave of the pandemic made it all the more clear that the virus caused certain skin manifestations among COVID-19 patients. Measles-like rashes, inflammation, urticaria and the so-called COVID-toes have been found to appear at various stages of the disease and have been linked to different duration, severity, and prognosis.
