Dr. Maxine Dexter, pulmonary and critical care specialist at Kaiser Permanente, recalls his colleagues’ chilling experiences with COVID-related blood clotting:
“We are hearing reports from our ER colleagues about patients presenting with stroke and heart attack symptoms that end up being COVID-positive.”
It’s already well known that the SARS-CoV-2 virus can enter and affect vital organs such as the lungs. Sometimes, though, it can even attack the heart, causing a secondary infection called myocarditis. The main symptoms for this illness are abnormal heartbeat, chest pain and, ultimately, heart failure.
