Why do millions of people miss their second shot?
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 8% of the people who got their first Pfizer/Moderna COVID-19 vaccine in April missed their second shot.
But why didn’t they go through with it?
The New York Times interviewed many people asking them why they missed their shot. The most common answers were:
- Fear of side effects brought by the second shot
- Believing that a single shot was enough for immunization
- Local vaccination centers ran out of vaccine supplies
Specialists are very concerned about this ascending trend because many people might falsely believe they’re protected from the virus.
