People with obesity are twice more likely to die of coronavirus
Obesity, which means individuals have a body mass index of 30 or more, can affect the capacity of your lung volume and capacity and has been associated with impaired immune function. COVID-19 patients who were also obese were twice more likely to end up in the hospital, more likely to require admission to an intensive care unit and more likely to die, according to a study from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. More than that, a study published in PLoS One found that people with severe obesity that contracted the coronavirus “were twice as likely to be admitted to the ICU and four times as likely to die of any cause”.
