Are Face Masks Really Safe? 7 Side Effects You May Feel Too
We already know that face masks are one of the best measures for reducing the risks of a COVID-19 infection.
We also know they’re uncomfortable, especially if we have to wear them for longer periods of time.
While we all know how important face masks are, I couldn’t help but wonder whether these products come with any side effects.
Turns out, wearing face masks on a daily basis does cause a negative impact that may affect your life quality.
Let’s have a look at 9 harmful side effects that come with wearing face masks (no. 5 is hands down the most bothering to me!).

They affect your sight
Antonio I. Lazzarino, Medical Doctor and Epidemiologist, explains that wearing a face mask sends the air you exhale right into the eyes. Occasionally, your eyes may become watery, which increases the chances of touching your face; if your hands have the SARS-CoV-2 virus, you’re as good as infected within seconds.
Another uncomfortable scenario regards people who are wearing glasses. Since your exhaled air goes up towards the eyes, your glasses can become foggy and affect your vision.
Captain’s Tip: Resist the urge of touching your eyes as much as you can. If the eyes are very watery or itchy, wash your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds to avoid any health risks.
