Struggling with Bad Breath? Avoid These 8 Foods at All Costs
Alcohol
Alcohol is another culprit of bad breath and can be just as off-putting as garlic breath, though not as socially acceptable. That’s because alcohol not only radiates from your mouth, but it also comes out of your pores, making you smell like a liquor cabinet for several hours.
The reason for the persistent booze breath is that alcohol makes your mouth dry, creating the perfect environment for foul bacteria to grow and thrive and release that horrendous pungent smell.
Coffee
How can something that smells so good make your breath smell so bad? From a coffee lover’s point of view, this is simply inconceivable. But coffee breath is, unfortunately, a real thing. Similar to alcohol, coffee, or better said, its star ingredient- caffeine- can dry your mouth by causing a decrease in saliva production. The less saliva, the more bacteria, and, you guessed it, the more of that off-putting bad breath.
Captain’s tip: If you don’t want to be that person who always has coffee breath, consume foods that have saliva producing enzymes such as apples.
