Your Next COVID-19 Vaccine Can Be a Pill – Here’s How It Works
We’re very close to getting oral COVID-19 vaccines.
Right now, the only way we can get vaccinated against COVID-19 is through injections. Although it seems effective health-wise, this option is difficult in terms of transportation and administration.
Many other vaccines, such as the one against polio, started out as injections and then got changed for oral administration. So far, researchers are working on two new COVID-19 vaccine variants: pills and nasal spray.
Data from FasterCures shows that five pharmaceutical companies are working on developing pill COVID-19 vaccines; two of them have already advanced to phase 1 clinical trials.
Meanwhile, 13 other companies are working on nasal spray vaccines, five of which are in the early phases of clinical trials.
