Right now, the world seems to have frozen as we watch the outbreak of the new coronavirus disrupt every aspect of our routine: work, school, events and social life.

Even the most optimistic people have a hard time smiling, let alone those already struggling with anxiety or depression. Usually, following established routines could get us through the day, but in times like these, we’re left without our daily habits too!

However, this can be a great opportunity to develop a new (maybe even better) routine for you and your family. Exercise, education and social life are all crucial for our wellness; just because we’re stuck at home it doesn’t mean we should give up on them. In fact, now we can reinvent the way we enjoy such activities.

Meditate

You don’t have to be an expert to get the perks of a 10-minute meditation session every day. This habit could mean simply sitting in silence or using an app that offers customized lessons.

 

Create an exercise routine

By this point, you’re probably unable (or unwilling) to go to the gym or exercise classes – so why not exercise right at home? With just a few clicks, you can get any products you might need (say, a yoga mattress or dumbbells) and just follow the usual exercise series. Sure, there are also countless videos or free courses that offer advice on exercising at home any time – so get started!

Just like the body, our mind needs to stay in shape too. I’m not saying that movie marathons aren’t educational, but let’s be honest – nothing compares to letting your imagination run wild as you go through each chapter of a great novel. This might also be a great time to get into a topic you’ve always been interested in, say politics or astrophysics.

 

Have an active social life

How are you supposed to maintain social life when you can’t literally get out of the house? Well, thanks to the 2020 technology, there are countless ways to stay in touch with our loved ones. Video calls, messages, photos or just a plain old phone call can improve your mood instantly and make life feel a bit more normal.

Try new things

If you’re like me, there’s at least one thing you’ve been wanting to do for a very long time, but never found the right moment. For me, it was painting, but for you it might be taking an online class, spending extra time with the kids, cooking, or binge-watching your favorite show. Regardless of what’s on your list, trust me: now is the time to do it!

 

I know it’s hard to see the bright side of things when there’s so much negativity around. However, making the best of our change in routine can help us enjoy our life even more once the world will go back to normal and everything will be alright. Stay safe, strong and healthy!
