Wellness Captain Foods Rich in Antioxidants

  1. Dark chocolate

We already know that this is the healthiest type of chocolate. However in addition, dark chocolate contains plenty of flavonoids, antioxidants found in its cocoa. As the Nutrition Journal found, the greater the cocoa content, the more healthy antioxidants the chocolate will have.

  1. Spices and/or dried herbs

Spices aren’t just a great way of adding taste to your favorite meals. This Nutrition Journal study found that the following spices and dried herbs are packed with valuable antioxidants:

  • Cinnamon
  • Cloves
  • Mint
  • Oregano
  • Rosemary
  • Sage
  • Ginger
  • Dill

  1. Coffee and tea

I told you you’d like no. 7 of our list! If you can’t start the day without your caffeine fix, know that it has additional benefits you weren’t aware of. Green tea, black tea and coffee are all amazing sources of antioxidants; however, make sure to choose a high-quality coffee to maximize its health benefits.

  1. Berries

Our list wouldn’t have been complete without my personal favorite fruit of them all: berries. These little guys, along with their cousins strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and goji berries, are simply bursting with fiber and antioxidants. You can eat them fresh, frozen, dried, in jam or add them to your morning smoothie.

Here you can see our favorite Blueberry Smoothie recipe here – I like to call it a morning bliss.

  1. Curly kale

It may not be the most savory food on our list, but trust me: this superfood is totally worth including in your diet. Kale is packed with plenty of fiber, vitamins and antioxidants. If you’re not a huge fan of kale, you can enjoy its benefits using our kale smoothie recipe, as you can’t feel its flavor at all.

  1. Artichokes

Of all the fruits and veggies you can find in a supermarket, artichokes definitely stand out from the crowd. These plants contain valuable amounts of vitamin C, hydroxycinnamic acids and flavones, all powerful antioxidants.
