Cardio is great for anybody, but resistance training might work much better for people over 50. Why?
Exercise science professor Michele Olson (Huntingdon College, Ala.) explains that, once you turn 50, muscle mass drops much faster than ever – so does bone density. Resistance training keeps both muscles and bones strong, which might also prevent serious fractures and falls over time.
Another surprising reason comes from a 2014 study which proved that only 20 minutes of weight training can improve your memory!
