Got A Fever? Bring It Down at Home with These Remedies
Drink it up
With all the sweating that comes with fever (or reducing one), becoming dehydrated is dangerously easy. Ideally, you should drink 8-12 glasses of water per day; however, a good indicator is to simply drink water until your urine becomes pale.
While you’re ill, drinking beverages rich in minerals and vitamins (think Gatorate) may also help you to recover lost nutrients due to sweating. Another entirely natural option is fresh orange juice since it contains plenty of vitamin C that strengthens your immune system.
Last, but not least, grapes can also be a great nutrient-dense option of staying dehydrated while enjoying a sweet treat.
Cool yourself down
Similar to the soaked socks trick, this technique implies wrapping yourself in a towel soaked in lukewarm water. However, make sure that you take this step gradually and double-check the water temperature because you don’t want it to be too cold.
Cover the wet sheet with a blanked and lie down this way for 15 minutes or until the sheet starts to get warm. Once again, doctors generally don’t agree with this technique nowadays, so you should only use it if there’s no alternative.
Eat spicy foods
Sprinkle some cayenne pepper on your favorite foods. Much like the herbs mentioned above, spicy meals induce sweating which can bring your fever down almost immediately.
