Right now, the future is more uncertain than ever. However, one thing we know for sure: we age. No matter how many anti-aging supplements we use, we still age – and that’s beautiful.
The wrinkles on your face are a memory of all the laughs and smiles you shared with your loved ones. The grey hairs remind of all the things you went through, things that made you stronger.
But everything you went through comes with a cost: stiffer joints, tiredness and sleep problems are just a few.
Do you want to enjoy aging to its fullest? Thanks to the progress of medicine, now it’s all possible – one supplement at a time. Today, I’m ready to share what I think are the best products you can take at home to age more gracefully than ever.
Let’s have a look:
Curcumin (Turmeric)
Curcumin, the active compound in turmeric, gained popularity worldwide thanks to its powerful antioxidant properties. Studies taken by the Inha University in Korea proved that curcumin activates proteins that delay cellular senescence, a process that accelerates aging and long-term illnesses.
Other research showed that curcumin increased the lifespan of mice and flies considerably; this might also be the case for us, considering that turmeric can also delay age-related symptoms too.
Collagen
Collagen has already become a mainstream ingredient for anti-aging cosmetic products and for good reason. In fact, collagen is naturally found in your body; its role is to maintain and protect the skin structure. In time, the collagen production slows down, hence the wrinkles and other signs of sensitive skin.
A 2019 study performed on 72 female subjects showed that taking a collagen-rich supplement for 12 weeks can make the skin more hydrated while improving elasticity and roughness.
CoQ10
Just like collagen, coenzyme Q10 is an antioxidant naturally produced by your body. It keeps cells healthy, strong and aids in physical energy too, which is why it’s commonly found in anti-aging products. And just like collagen, CoQ10 levels decline significantly as you age.
The Journal of Nutrition, Health and Aging released a study taken on 443 older adults who had been supplementing with CoQ10 for 4 years. Not only did the subjects reduce their hospital visits, but they were also in better shape both physically and mentally.
Whey protein
No, it doesn’t make you bulky and you don’t have to be a gym maniac to take it. Whey protein contains all the essential amino acids your body requires for muscle regeneration and healthy growth, making it a powerful ally in the anti-aging process. The same amino acids help your liver to release glutathione, a top antioxidant that protects you from toxins (coming from foods or the environment).
Still not convinced? Read our in-depth article on whey protein and how you can use it to be healthier, happier and live longer.
Zinc and copper
Each of these nutrients is crucial to your health – but taken together they make a powerful team that helps you age gracefully. Zinc improves the immune system, increases energy levels and it might even impact your mood positively. Combine it with copper and you have a very powerful antioxidant known as CuZnSOD (copper-zinc superoxide dismutase).
The key to getting the perks of each anti-aging supplement on this list is to have patience and consume it on the long run. In time, you’ll notice their powerful effects and thank yourself for creating healthy habits that help you to age happily.
