Headaches have been recognized as COVID-19 symptoms from the very beginning of the outbreak. “From the most recently available data,” said Dr. Mehla, a headache specialist with the Hartford HealthCare Headache Center, “it is estimated that headache is a symptom of COVID-19 in about 13 percent of patients with COVID-19. It is the fifth most common COVID-19 symptom after fever, cough, muscle aches and trouble breathing.”
Covid-19 patients who experience mild and severe COVID-19 symptoms have also been found to experience the most severe and dangerous headaches, said Dr. Rachel Colman, director of the Low-Pressure Headache Program at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York.
