Another indication of a neurological issue of long COVID is having difficulties in finding the right words. According to Mayo Clinic, this problem is known as Aphasia, a disorder that affects your ability to process language and communicate. Stuttering is also a side effect that long-haulers have reported.
“It can affect your ability to speak, write and understand language, both verbal and written,” Mayo Clinic explains. Generally, aphasia can be the immediate result of a stroke or head injury but it can also occur “gradually from a slow-growing brain tumor or a disease that causes progressive, permanent damage (degenerative).”
