Theodore Roosevelt was an organized and determined person, so, it should come as no surprise, that he also liked his meals on time. However, contrary to his adventurous side, historians claim his tastes when it came to food were rather simple.
Following a Washington Post article in 1906 which described the lavish meals that the president had at the White House, Roosevelt intervened, and the paper had to amend their previous article: “Instead of a breakfast consisting of oranges, cantaloupes, cereals, eggs, bacon, lamb chops, hotcakes, and waffles, President Roosevelt insists that the regular White House breakfast consists of hard-boiled eggs, rolls, and coffee.” One of Roosevelt’s favorite foods was fried chicken smothered in white gravy.
The 28th president of the United States and one of the major drivers behind the Treaty of Versailles and the League of Nations was also a well-traveled man, who spent many of his days in Europe, especially in Paris. But his time spent abroad did not do much to influence his choices for favorite foods.
