In North Carolina, mosquito season is between April and October, when the warm, humid weather supports rapid breeding. Actually, Charlotte is often known as having one of the nation’s most serious mosquito problems.
You can find these insects (not that anyone would actually look for them) near people or pets, but mostly in the air around standing water. That’s the place where mosquitos lay their eggs, and they only need a few weeks to mature into adults. There are 60 species of mosquitos in North Carolina.
