Top 10 Mosquito-Infested Cities in the U.S. (Are You in One of Them?)

In North Carolina, some of the most common but concerning types of mosquitos are:

  • Northern House Mosquitos – these pests are known to be found in storm sewers, ground pools, and ditches. They come out at night and may carry the West Nile virus.
  • Asian Tiger Mosquitos – This type of mosquitos are active during night and day, and they like to breed in containers like flower pots and birdbaths.
  • Eastern Saltmarsh Mosquitos – They are usually found on the coastal side of North Carolina and will bite any host that gets nearby. They breed in saltmarshes and may transmit eastern equine encephalitis.
