13 “Healthy” Habits Your Doctor Wants You to Give Up For Good

Washing your face twice a day

This is a piece of skincare advice as old as time, but this doesn’t necessarily make it efficient. At least not in the case of people with dry skin. Compared to their oily skin counterparts, when people with dry skin wash their faces more often than they should, their skin becomes even drier. Over-washing is a thing an can have unexpected side effects.

“People should keep in mind that twice a day isn’t the magic number for everyone. The one time you should definitely wash it, however, is after a workout,” says Alan J. Parks, MD, dermatologist, and founder of DermWarehouse.
