Everyone wants to know when the pandemic is over, and we can finally go back to our normal lives. A normal, pre-pandemic life might be wishful thinking, but things will get better and the coronavirus will not be so scary sometime in the future. When exactly is that? This is what researchers are trying to find out.
According to a recent study published in Science on the future trajectory of COVID, “once the endemic phase is reached and primary exposure is in childhood, CoV-2 may be no more virulent than the common cold.” Scientists are pretty certain that the virus will become harmless for most people and nowhere near the dangerous, even deadly, infection that it is now once people build immunity to it, either by contracting the virus or getting the vaccine.
