Reasons why you’re always hungry:

  • You went to bed too late – If you skip some serious sleep hours, you’re messing with your hunger hormones, such as ghrelin, so when it surges, you’re hungry. Also, the hunger hormone “leptin”, which basically helps you feel full, sinks. On top of that, sleep deprivation boost blood levels of a chemical that is responsible for pleasurable eating(which is similar in effect with marijuana). So if you’re suddenly hungry all the time, you should check your sleep schedule.
  • You opt for the short stack instead of the omelet – You like your breakfast with a syrup-slathered bite, and then your stomach is grumbling and you don’t know why. Research conducted at the University of Missouri found that women who ate a high-protein breakfast of sausage and eggs experienced less hunger while eating fewer calories at lunch, compared with women who had a low-protein plate of pancakes.
  • You only eat low-fat this and fat-free that – Some processed food isn’t necessarily better for you, as some might contain extra sugar or more salt. Although you’re not wrong to avoid trans fats or saturated versions, you should make room for some heart-healthy unsaturated fat, because it can help you feel full.
  • You need water – Sometimes, sudden hunger is your body’s way of telling you’re thirsty. So before grabbing another slice of pizza, drink a glass of water and wait to see how you feel. Scientists from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign have been studying the dietary habits of more than 18,300 adults and discovered that many people who upped their daily water intake felt less hungry.
