The “La La Land” star gives credit to therapy and acting for helping her cope with anxiety. For her, it all started when she was a child. She recalls being at a friend’s house and suddenly feeling as if the house was about to get on fire.
Although she knew there was absolutely no reason to believe that, she couldn’t stop herself from believing she was about to die. This kind of experience is common in those who experience panic attacks and anxiety disorders. Although they are able to recognize that what they’re nervous about isn’t really happening, they can’t control the intrusive thoughts or the body’s physical reaction to that anxiety.
