The Johnson & Johnson vaccine, on the other hand, is based on a non-replicating adenoviral vector which is known for causing the common cold, to do the work of protecting us against the coronavirus. The adenovirus is not active in the vaccine, but it does the same thing as the Pfizer and Moderna’s vaccine, namely teaching our immune systems to create antibodies and build up protection against COVID-19.
