Because we’ve been focused on the post-vaccine side effects for so long, people who got vaccinated but had no sore arms or aches after the jab, started worrying that the vaccines would not work to stave off the coronavirus, in their case.
But, as researchers have explained, the vaccine experience is most likely a reflection of each individual’s immune system more than an indication of the vaccine’s effectiveness. The way our immune system reacts to vaccines, including the COVID-19 one, can be influenced by various factors such as age, sex, genetics, preexisting medical conditions, environment and even our physical activity level and diet, says Sujan Shresta, a viral immunologist at the La Jolla Institute for Immunology.
