Allergic reaction

Since the vaccine rollout has started, there have been 21 cases of severe allergic reactions, also called anaphylaxis, minutes after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

However, it’s highly unlikely for you to have an allergic reaction if don’t have a history of allergies, and even if you do, it would be “an incidence of about one every million…almost invariably in people with a history of severe allergic reactions,” said Dr. Fauci during an at Washington University in St. Louis.

The CDC also states that the vaccines are not dangerous for people with a history of allergies not related to vaccines or injectable medications, such as food, pets, skincare products, environmental, or latex allergies. People with severe allergic reaction history or who have had any type of immediate allergic reaction to a vaccine or injectable therapy have to be kept under medical observation for at least 30 minutes after their vaccination. People without any known allergies should be supervised for at least 15 minutes after getting the vaccine.

Check with your doctor before making any decisions with respect to the vaccine.
