In Dallas, Texas, mosquito bites are also dangerous, apart from already being annoying. The insects can carry diseases like West Nile, Zika or Lyme. Zyka virus can spread among people through the bite of an infected Aedes species mosquito. The most common symptoms of this virus are fever, rash, joint pain, and conjunctivitis (red eyes).
The illness is not very dangerous, but it has symptoms lasting several days to a week. Although there are no reports of the Zika virus being locally transmitted by mosquitos in Dallas, mosquitos that are found locally in that area are carrying this disease. There is no specific treatment or vaccine for this disease at the moment.
