7 Body Parts You Should Keep Your Hands Off
Don’t touch your belly button
The saying “cute as a belly button” might have a completely different meaning if we were to go by what researchers have discovered about our navels. Your belly button is the most unique part of your body but it is also the dirtiest. “The belly button harbors a high population of bacteria,” Dr. Richardson says. “It is largely inaccessible, so it remains dirty even after showering,” according to Glenner Richardson, MD, director of microbiology and analytical chemistry laboratories at Microban.
Because of its shape, the belly button collects dead fibers, dirt, sweat, soap, lotions and fibers found in your clothes, causing quite an unpleasant odor that makes you want to wash and scrub it like there’s no tomorrow. If you add the germs from your fingers, you have a sure ticket to getting serious infections.

Keep your hands off your nails
Picking or pulling at your fingernails or toenails might feel weirdly satisfying but it could also hurt your cuticles and cause severe infections. That’s because your nails are hosting a lot of dangerous germs and bacteria that could make you sick. According to the CDC, “nails could contribute to the spread of some infections, such as pinworms”.
Washing your hands could help you eliminate some of these germs and bacteria but even thorough handwashing does not completely wipe them off your hands; this is one of the reasons medical personnel wears gloves.
