7 Serious Eating Risks You Should Avoid This Pandemic 1

During the first months of the pandemic, a brand new trend emerged among social media users and not only: cooking at home. From bread in all forms (banana bread anyone?) to more sophisticated recipes, we all became mesmerized with a habit that’s technically been around since forever.

One year into the COVID-19 pandemic, though, we’re all feeling tired, bored, or both. Since most of us can’t go on a vacation with all the safety precautions (like visiting a virgin island with our private jet), the only way we can still spoil ourselves a little is, once again, by eating.

Some of us choose to go to the restaurant, while others are still opting for takeout. Regardless of the option you pick, there still are certain risks you expose yourself to.

Today, we’ll have a look at 7 eating risks that still exist when going to a restaurant or ordering food, as well as how you can avoid them:

  1. Don’t take leisurely meals

Who doesn’t love spending a couple of hours in their favorite restaurants with loved ones by their side? As much as we miss the good old times, this relaxing habit can easily turn into a COVID-19 superspreader event. (Don’t know what superspreader events are? Check out my post right here for all the details).

According to the Mayo Clinic, exposure to an infected person within 6 feet for 15 minutes over a 24-hour period can increase your risk of contacting COVID-19 tremendously.

If you still want to grab some lunch with your close ones, make sure to maintain social distance between yourselves, as well as the people from other tables. Stay for as little time as possible to avoid any risks of infection and keep your loved ones safe.
