This Is Who Will Receive The First COVID Booster Shots
Older adults and people with chronic diseases will most likely get them first
According to Mikael Dolsten, Pfizer’s chief scientific officer, the company’s boosters will reach individuals who are at a higher risk of developing severe illness, complications, hospital admission and death by COVID. This includes seniors and people with certain underlying conditions.
“We cannot, of course, predict what CDC and similar agencies will do,” Dolsten said. He stated that, in his opinion, booster rollout “would likely start with those that are most susceptible, older adults, those with chronic diseases such as cardiovascular, obesity, COPD, asthma, many that are immune-impaired. And of course, that constitutes a very large population.”
