Moderna’s variant booster candidate has shown encouraging prospects, with preliminary results from human trials in progress revealing that the third dose is efficient in boosting immunity and targeting virus mutations such as South Africa and Brazil variants, as well as removing “its ability to cause serious disease, hospitalization and death.”
“We are encouraged by these new data, which reinforce our confidence that our booster strategy should be protective against these newly detected variants,” confirmed Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel.
