We’re enjoying too many desserts

This is probably one of the most obvious risk factors of cancer on our list. However, we have to discuss it because the average American is eating more sweets than the daily recommended intake.

Eating treats like candy, frappe (think Starbucks varieties) or doughnuts excessively increases the risks for obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, bad cholesterol and inflammation – all of which can, in turn, increase your risk of cancer.

As we’ve mentioned at the beginning of this post you should ideally eat up to 12 teaspoons of sugar per day, as per the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Now, the average adult in our country is eating more than 17 teaspoons of sugar every single day!
