5. When will the general population be vaccinated?

By now, it’s clear that essential workers and high-risk citizens will probably receive the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. But what about the rest of the world?

Reportedly, the CDC is still trying to figure things out. However, earlier statements suggested that essential workers such as the police, firefighters, agriculture and food workers might be prioritized.

Older adults (+65) and those diagnosed with medical conditions would be next in line.

However, there are a lot of U.S. citizens with underlying illnesses which put them at great risk. This means that healthy, young adults could have to wait until the third quarter of 2021 to get the vaccine, according to Brett Giroir, the White House coronavirus testing czar.

As for children under age 12, they might have to wait until the very end of 2021, or even longer, mainly because the vaccine hasn’t been tested on this age group yet. The same goes for pregnant women.
